In today’s interconnected world, distance is no longer a barrier to collaboration. I am Koreen, a social media manager based in the Philippines who works remotely for one of the best social media agencies in Abu Dhabi.

It’s hard to describe a typical day as a work-at-home mom because no two days are the same! But that’s why I’m so excited to share what a day looks like for someone juggling work, marriage, motherhood, and home management. My life is the busiest it’s ever been, but thanks to the routine I’ve implemented, I’m less stressed than I’ve ever been!

Let’s glimpse my day as I navigate the social media landscape, bridging cultures and time zones to deliver exceptional results.

Daily Schedule of a Social Media Manager

7:30 AM - 10:00 AM (GMT +8)

Rise and Shine

I begin my day by fulfilling my duties as a working mom. I prepare and eat breakfast with my toddler son, go out to catch some morning sun and prepare for the day.

10:30 AM (GMT +8)

Clocking In!

Given the time differences, I start work 2 hours and 30 minutes earlier than our Abu Dhabi team. I spend my first two hours listing my daily tasks, checking emails, and monitoring community management.

NOON (GMT +8)

Team Check-In

At 12 noon (8:00 AM UAE time), I clock in through our team WhatsApp group. I will start sending each client’s community management sheet to the respective internal group for my Account Manager’s review at this hour. I also squeeze in a quick lunch while waiting for the Account Manager’s approval on the CM sheet.

1:00 PM - 1:30 PM (GMT +8)

CM time!

I respond to comments and inquiries when the Account Manager approves the CM sheet.

1:30 PM - 5:00 PM (GMT +8)

Content Creation, Meetings, Reports or whatever is assigned for me to do on the day!

Majority of my work happens during this time bracket. Client meetings, post approvals for the day, scheduling posts, training other SMEs and analyzing reports.

5:00 PM - 5:30 PM (GMT +8)

Quick break

As the workday winds down, I take a quick break from the screen, get some snacks and spend quality time with my son. I live in the mountainside of the metro area, which overlooks Metro Manila. We usually go out to watch the sunset, overlooking the panoramic views of the city.

5:30 PM - 7:00 PM (GMT +8)

Back from the quick break

I continue what’s left of my daily tasks. The tasks usually include afternoon community management, content creation, and preparing to publish the scheduled post of the day.

7:00 PM - 8:00 PM (GMT +8)

Dinner break

I spend time having dinner with the entire family. After dinner, I help my kid finish his night routine.

8:00 PM - 8:30 PM (GMT +8)

Wrap-Up

I usually end my work day by reaching out to my colleagues, checking in on them and having quick catch-ups. I always ensure that I stay connected with the team despite my absence from the office.

9:00 PM

Wind Down

With work completed for the day, I unwind and relax by watching me and my son’s favorite series, Young Sheldon or The Big Bang Theory.

As I end my productive day, I am thankful for the flexibility and independence of remote work. Despite the physical separation between my colleagues in Abu Dhabi and me, our shared commitment to creativity, cooperation, and cultural awareness transcends borders, fostering an inclusive and global work environment, transcending physical boundaries.
